On the Right Foot

I have moved my hassle of a studio once again. And life is always a four-way pie chart.

Painting. Currently three tables are unfinished and only two of them are dedicated to ideas already betrothed to them. Moving seven tables however, can prove exhausting at the end of the day when you only use two.

Photography. On the photo-front things are exciting. I received a Hasselblad 500 c/m as a graduation gift. One of the most surprising acts of kindness Ive had happen to me in a long while. I have finally come into possession of some rolls of 120 film and was fortunate to get some fun photos of rafters on the Lochsa River in Idaho last week. Developing will be fun. There aren't any easy made dark rooms in this new house. Falling back to paying for development hurts, but it may be worth the money considering my efforts.

Theatre. The production of A Midsummer Night's Dream has been fun so far, long rehearsals but good time to get a chapter of my book read. Until now. Our actress for Helena has been sick for a week, and the Director has not only announced me as the understudy, but I am now fully replacing her. Ive gone from the Wall to the Lover. Lots of lines to work on, but I have a couple weeks to get to the same level as everyone else. I can do this!

Family. or in some cases, People. My mother is infamous for killing plants, with her black thumb as it were. After my surprise visit home this weekend, I have discovered her recent gardening obsession. Its good use of her time, and keeps her from drowning in the knitting machine and craft room. Snap dragons, foxglove, tomatoes, cilantro, cucumber, strange indoor trees, potted ivy, basil, zucchini, and sunflowers, aside from the decades old iris' camellias, and rhododendrons. Its a miracle they are still showing signs of life, and long life at this point. Dad says he reminds her to water them, so I have a feeling that helps. I'm glad she's found something that gives her some satisfaction on another level. I'm happy for her new hobby.

My newest hobby has been researching some family history to write a book. Some ancestors were involved with the court during the Habsburg and Austro-Hungarian Empire. Doing more background research on duels, fashion, and court is proving most interesting. Gorgeous, gorgeous dresses. So don't mind me and my aristocratic fascination.
