Mural Design and Installation
Hi there, Dani here.
Studio Dodge is beginning to make a mark on the local environment. Earlier this year I saw a facebook post on a local group asking if anyone knew an artist that could paint a logo on a wall. I reached out and asked some questions so I could quote the work. After driving over to a new Mexican restaurant to see the wall, I offered up a mural project rather than just the logo. I did some research and actually modeled the mountains from a couple photos of the terrain in Chihuahua, Mexico.

This was our final draft for the design. However, when buying paint I realized that a slightly more muted palette would be easiest on the eyes of the customers. So In the end this first phase of the mural was complete.

The owner was pleased with the final result on this wall, so much so he asked me to come back to paint the stage wall in the dance floor area of the restaurant. so back to the drawing board! This was our final draft of the design plan, using more of the colors we already had left from the first mural.

In the draft of the stage design, I just drew desert plants from the recesses of my mind. However, when working on the mural I did some research first and only chose to depict plants that would be native to the region of Chihuahua. I had to alter some of the ideas to translate to people standing further away, and I also had to adapt some of the areas because I could only reach so high on the ladder I was using. That was probably the biggest challenge, since we opted not to rent scaffolding for this. Here is the final!

If you are in western South Dakota, and happen to want some Mexican food, I highly recommend stopping by for the barbacoa tacos. If you're local, consider stopping by for the corn hole competitions on Monday nights.

If you know of a place looking for some custom indoor artwork in their space, I'd be delighted to brainstorm, talk details, and quote a project. For locals I'm able to paint the projects myself. Outside my area, I can design the piece and either find a group local to you to install the final artwork, or I can include travel costs and equipment rental if you'd like me to complete the project personally.
